Barbie's New Shoes

After sporting those classic high heels since 1959, Barbie can finally slip 'em off.

A new collection of Barbie dolls from Mattel's Fashionista line gives Barbie adjustable ankles which means she can finally kick off those heels and slip on a pair of ballet flats.

The new collection also includes 22 hairstyles, 23 hair colours, 18 eye colours and 14 facial shapes. The line is designed to be more diverse and represent 'the world that girls see around them'.

I can't wait to see what these things will look like.

In case you didn't notice, we've sort of been MIA for a month or so. When we started the blog we were posting loads of cool articles and eventually it started to become too much to keep up with when work and everything else mixed in.

So now we're back, and we're going to post as much as we can to keep you all informed and entertained but if it's not quite as much as before we apologize. We may be a little flaky, but we will never leave you. We promise.

If you've been wondering what's been going on since our last post here's a list of three things I've done since then.

1. Planted/Quickly Killed a strawberry plant in my yard.

2. Read the novel Wild by Cheryl Strayed and was inspired to live a better life.

3. Entered a Television Writing competition.

So now that we're all caught up, I'm going to go work on a post for today. It'll be something juicy.

What's cooler than being elderly and having grey hair?

Being young and having grey hair, apparently.

That sounds mocky, but I actually love this new hair trend that is allegedly going by 'granny hair'. I do however, think that you have to be one of those people who can pull it off because I'd definitely look like an idiot. A ton of celebrities are rocking the look or have in the past few months including Cara Delevingne.

Brooke Bohan, a hair colorist from FOUR London says that this new look is rather tricky to achieve.

"It can look totally fabulous if done professionally, but beware it is the hardest of all the colours to achieve with no damage to the hair...It will usually take around six months to get hair to the gorgeous grey colour, depending on how much colour build-up the client already has on their hair. You have to grow out as much of the existing colour as possible."

She also advises you only go to a professional salon, which I would do on a normal basis if I wasn't so cheap and stubborn.

Long Lost Twins

But not really. Just two perfect strangers who look very, very, very much alike.

Three friends in Dublin decided to host an internet search via Facebook to see who could find their doppelgänger first. The winner was Niamh Geany, who found a girl who looked just like her and lived, you ready? Only an hour away. Her name is Karen. Here they are.

They met up and spent the day dressing and doing their make-up alike, and then just generally being in awe of how scary alike they look.

I can't find a link, but the Facebook is still up and running and you can apparently put up your own photos in search of your very own doppelgänger.

If you haven't read my post from earlier this week (read it here), here's a fact that's pretty hard to swallow.

In the United States, women make, on average, 76 cents to every male dollar earned.

The only state where women make more is New York, where women make approximately 1.02$ to every male dollar earned.

In light of this, graphic designer Elana Schlenker has opened a pop-up-shop in Pennsylnavia called 76<100. The catch? Female shoppers are charged 76% of retail price and men are charged 100%. It's a direct reflection of the state's gender wage gap.

Apparently people have been saying that this whole concept is sexist itself, by Elana says that it's more of a 'pay what you earn' concept. She wanted it to be a very powerful, positive and fun way to approach the issue. She just wants people to talk about the issue, and be aware.

In an interview, Schlenker said “I hope the shop’s pricing helps to underscore this inherent unfairness and to create space for people to consider why the wage gap still exists.”

Equality is always important. This seems like a great idea to me. It's such a creative way to make the severity of an issue really sink in.

MTV Award Fashion Review

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- I know relatively nothing about fashion. But I'm going to give my very unprofessional opinion anyway.

First, here are my top 5 'Best Looks' of the night.

5. Jennifer Lopez

I don't care what anyone says, how anyone over the age of 25 rocks a blazer/mini-dress so hard is just something I cannot understand. I also love how in typical J-Lo fashion, she keeps it totally classy with the black and gold. Her skin looks like it's literally glowing here. She's perfect.

4. Cara Delevingne

I'm not a huge fan of the hair thing, but this playsuit (is that what it is? is that what they call it?) is so pretty. The colour looks amazing on her, and I love the sleeves, and the draping in the front. So cute. So Cara. Love it.

3. Rebel Wilson

She looks so comfortable with this choice in outfits. Look at her face. She loves this. The dress fits so nicely, and that cape is so cool. Rebel is literally a rebel- she does whatever she wants, who cares what's trendy. Plus the pop of pink looks great on her.

2. Victoria Justice

I love everything about this. I love the zig-zag-y pink thing, I love her black accessories and her hair and make-up look perfect. And on top of all that, she's also perfectly tanned. You go, Victoria Justice.

1. Shailene Woodley

I think it takes one bad-ass lady to show up to the MTV Movie award in pants and a tee. Not to mention, the most popular woman of the night (Hello Trailblazer Award.) But she pulls it off so beautifully. I love her hair. I love the boots. I love the bold lip. But I love everything about her. Shailene, please be my cool, fashion-savvy friend.

And now, for worst dressed, I know the most popular choice was Bai Ling's pretty revealing dragon thing. (see below)

I just don't get it at all. It's not even an outfit, it's a costume. So I'm picking something different for my worst dressed. Here it is:

I know she's got this eclectic personality, but this is just so very 1999. I don't love the colours. I don't love the non-matching lipstick. She also just always looks so angry. Just not my favourite. Sorry, charli xcx fans. Please forgive me.

I'm sorry if my lack of any actual fashion sense offended or upset you. I'll try to learn things before the next award show.

J Lo Did What?!

I know it's probably hard to think back to the year 2000. It was the year of the big Mad Cow Disease scare. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was published. The Grinch movie came out. And J-Lo ruled the world.

It was the night of the 42nd Grammy Awards, and the one and only Jennifer Lopez (a.k.a Jenny from the block, J.Lo etc.) arrived in a printed Versace dress that defied all kinds of physics.

What you may not have known, is that in 2000 Google was only a website search engine- no maps, no videos, and no photos. But because of the insane number of searches to see this image after this night, Google introduced 'Image Search' to be able to give the people what they wanted- which in this case, was to be able to study this picture and theorize just how much garment tape was holding that dress up.

The Kardashians Go To Church

Now, I'm not too sure about the dress code for church these days, so I did a little research.

The first thing I did was Google 'what religion are the Kardashians', and I found an interview where Kris Jenner stated she was a Protestant Christian.

Again, I knew next to no details about this, so I googled the church dress code for Protestant Christians and turns out:

So, Now I'll leave you with the photos that have been generating quite an online reaction of the Kardashians going to church on Easter weekend. According to most comments that I read when searching for these pictures, they were all dressed 'outrageously inappropriately'. I'm not their biggest fan, but I think that before we bash someone for anything (especially something religion related) we should make sure we have all of the information.

Khloe looks perfect, as always. Kourt and the kids are adorable. I'm afraid of crop tops, but Kendall could wear a bag and look high fashion. Kris looks like a cute mom, in that beige cape/cardigan thing. I'm going to stay away from making any comments about Kim and Kanye (I think they get enough attention) but little North looks pretty stinkin' cute too.

Anyway, I'm sure if everywhere you went hoards of photographers and a TV crew were following you, you may dress up a bit more than usual too.

It’s that time of year again; the snow’s finally melting, American Idol’s gone to live shows, and I’ve decided I should probably do something productive with my time that doesn’t just include Parks & Recreation marathons.

My name’s Chelsea (chell-see) and I’m a sitcom addict. Right now I’m also a full-time nanny, but one day I hope to be writing for television.
