Barnard College Makes a Change
Saturday, June 06, 2015
Barnard College has taken a very important step last week.
The New York all women college has announced it will now accept transgender females.
A statement released by the school said “In furtherance of our mission, tradition and values as a women’s college, and in recognition of our changing world and evolving understanding of gender identity, Barnard will consider for admission those applicants who consistently live and identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned to them at birth.”
In the wake of all of the different opinions flying around since Caitlin Jenner's appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair last week, seeing positive change in society is so refreshing.
No matter what your religious or political beliefs may be, there is no reason that we should not allow someone to live as their true selves and be happy (as long as it's not physically hurting others, or anything like that.)
Hopefully, Barnard College leads the way for other people and companies to open their minds and accept others in today's changing society.
You rule, Barnard.
